Final Chapter Learning Reflection

Before I studied this subject, I surely that it was a very hard subject because it was hard till name of subject and was taught by dean of my faculty. I have never studied with her before and I didn’t know about her habit. At the first time in the class, I felt stress because I think that she was very strict. But, it is just everything in my mind because teacher is very kind and friendly. This subject makes me to want to wake up in the Monday morning. In addition, teacher always makes warm atmosphere in the classroom. I think that this subject is a very free subject and I love to do a work in group because I can share my idea with my group and my friends in the class in front of the classroom. Teacher is very kind and tidy. Moreover, I felt pleasant without stressed when I study in this class. I learned a lot of reading skills such as how to find the definition, how to give an example, how to classify words or things, how to compare things or people, how to describe things, animals, and places, how to write recount to tell the experience or what happened, etc. In this cause, I found a lot of problems, for example, I didn't know many words, discourse markers was hardly to find and the lesson was hard to understand. I have to prepare myself, I usually find a new knowledge out of the class and do self-learning when I have a free time. I think that using unknown words is the biggest problem for me because I don’t know the word, so I use my dictionary online to solve this problem. It is a very comfortable and fast method. I love reading skill the most because I think that it's easy for me especially conversation reading , paragraph reading and academic reading. I think this clause has many benefits because I can apply to other subjects and I can use in my daily life, I can know the unknown words without using dictionary. Moreover, it helps me in reading in the future, and I can apply to my writing and another subjects in the future such as every English subjects in the future, using English in the future. I think writing weblogs is one of the best techniques because it helps me to bethink the lesson and makes me more understand. I believe that every one can be get a good grade, it's not depend on ingeniousness. But, it's just be diligent and patient.

Chapter 14 Last time study ...

In the morning, we continued problem and solution because we haven't finished it yet. teacher explained exercise 1 : Read each passage and write a sentence explaining the main idea of the text. Then, write a title related to the main idea of the passage, and create a diagram that represents the information in the text. When I did a homework at my dorm, I felt it was very hard. But. I felt it was easier when I did this exercise with teacher. I didn't know why? I wrote wrong main idea in exercise because I wrote phases. I think it was hard to find discourse markers in this unit because it is a academic passage. I know that it was the last time to study with Dr.Usa, I felt frightened and unhappy because I love this cause very much. After that, teacher assigned us to present our procedure videos and today is my turn to show my video. I felt excited and stressed. But, after I finished present my video, I feel better. I have a problem with fun word because it means humorous, I should use enjoyable word in my video. After we finished present our videos, teacher told us about our future, student in teacher's mind, don't stop learning and attribute of teacher.

Chapter 13 The Hardest Lesson Ever

On Monday March 30, we studied at 1.30 p.m. at 234 room because teacher have to attend the meeting in the morning. We continued unit 7 at exercise 3 answer 6 to tell about meaning of hazards. After that, we stared text 4 about language and circle the expressions which have the same meaning as for example, draw a line under the examples and complete the sentences by using illustration, for example, a case in point, an example, for instance and such as. After we have finished it, teacher started unit 8, it was about problem and solution. It looks like cause and effect but not as a same at all. Then, teacher explained the lesson about meaning, examples of problem and solution and signal words or markers such as propose, solution, approach, answer, issue, problem, remedy, prevention, solve, handle and fix. Furthermore, they have difference markers between problem and solution. There are a lot of problem markers such as burden, challenge, concern, crisis, danger, dispute, excess, hardship, lack, mystery, obstacle, puzzle, risk, setback and threat. There are many solution markers, for example to address, to alleviate, to cope with, to deal with, to relieve, to resolve, to settle, relief and remedy. After that, teacher assigned us to do skill practice to circle the problem markers, highlight the solution markers and write either problem or solution in margin next to the relevant information. I couldn't do it correctly because it was very hard. I think it was the hardest lesson in this subject. I need to find a knowledge about this topic because I can't do the exercise correctly. If I don't do anything, I surely that I will get a very bad grade in this semester.

Chapter 12 Example of Teacher!

In afternoon, we continued unit 7 definition and classification because we haven't finished it yet in the morning. After that, teacher stared unit 8 Exemplification. She explained the lesson about meaning of exemplification, transition words and phrases and commonly used abbreviations in text. There are many exemplification markers such as for example, in other words, namely, to illustrate, to demonstrate. specifically, for instance, a case in point is, another instance of and here are a few examples. Then, teacher assigned us to do text 1 to complete the diagram and highlight the exemplification marker. I think this exercise is easy because exemplification markers is easy to find such as for instance, for example, another example of and finally. Then, we stared text 2 to match the place with the activities in the diagram. It was easier than last exercise because I find the place before find activities. After that, we did exercise 3 to and answer the questions correctly in multiple choices. It was about hazards in the home. We stopped at question 6 because it was a time to look at my friends' videos. I really enjoyed and excited in these videos. I think this unit is not hard because exemplification markers is easy to find and if you can remember that markers, you can do this exercise or test. Lastly, I think 6 hours study of this subject is not so long because teacher always make a warm atmosphere in the classroom. So, I don't feel stress anymore. I think it is a important thing to do in the classroom when I be a teacher in the future.

Chapter 11 Definition and Classification

On Monday 23 March, we started unit 7 Definition and Classification. Teacher explained the lesson and examples. I think it was very hard because it's hard to find and remember the definition and classification markers. There are a lot of markers such as category, class, component, division, group, section, sort and type. Definition is a description of something, but classification is a group that something is divided into. I felt confused about this lesson because I couldn't find the markers. Next, teacher assigned us to do skill practice 1. It was about definition and it was hard to find definitions. Then, we started skill practice 2 about classification. It was easy to find markers, but it was hard to draw a diagram to showing the classification. Then, teacher assigned us to shown the answer in front of the classroom. We stopped this lesson because it was lunch time. I worried about this lesson because it was really hard and had a lot of markers. I think it was one of the hardest lesson in this subject. However, I need to practice more to pass the final test because I don't want to get a bad grade. If I get a bad grade, my parents will mad at me.

Chapter 10 six hours study again!

In afternoon, I didn't do the question in the afternoon break because I have to do my Japanese work. Teacher continued the lesson at skill practice 2. Then, I couldn't do the question because I can't find the cause and effect markers. They hardly to find in the paragraph .After I watched it carefully, I can do it. After that, teacher explained about the effects of stress. I think it is just not cause and effect lesson. but it is the life knowledge that you must know because it is very important and valuable. Lately, teacher let us to watch recipe video of my friend. I think this lesson is the hardest lesson in this subject although teacher told us next lesson will be more harder. I think that every lesson can be east if you try your best and be patient. 

Chapter 9 Men vs Women

On Monday 16 March, teacher told us result of midterm test. I got 47/60 point, I was very proud because I try my best to do the test. Moreover, the result of the test isn't bad. Next, teacher continued the lesson "Comparative and contrast" at Men vs Women : Do they speak the same language? by Deborah Tannen. But, I don't think so because nobody speaks the same language. after the lesson, teacher answered questions. In my own words, Deborah Tannen writes her book to  break the misunderstanding between men and women. I think this lesson is easy if you can read paragraph clearly. It's depending on knowledge of each person. However, I need to remember a lot of discourse markers in comparison and similarity such as conversely, notwithstanding, equivalent and to differ. Teacher assigned the question in reacting to the reading and this is my answer.


This is my opinion about American people and Thai people.




After we finished this lesson, she started the cause and effect lesson. Next, teacher assigned us to make the cause and effect sentence to partner. My sentence is I can't go to the beach because I have to go to the hospital. Then, teacher asked my me to share an idea to the class, I felt so stress. Next, teacher explained a list of cause and effect markers such as influence, outcome, consequence, reason and result. After that, teacher assigned us to do a skill practice 1. Teacher let students to answer the questions. 

Chapter 8 Midterm Crisis

On Monday 9, March, first, we had midterm test. I think it was easier than latest test. After we have finished the midterm test, teacher continued lesson Unit 5 Comparative and Contrast. I could not concentrate on lesson because I felt stress about the test. Then, teacher assigned us to shared ideas or answers with partner and wrote in on the whiteboard in front of the class. When we finished hurricane exercise, teacher told point of the latest test. I got 23/40 point. I felt wonderful because I try my best but I will read more books.

Chapter 7 Oranges vs Apples

After we had a hardly test, teacher answered exercise 4 from unit 4. Before started lesson, teacher brought 2 apples and 1 orange. Then, teacher asked us that what is different? and what is similar? Apples and oranges are fruits. Apples are green and red but oranges are orange or yellow. The apples skin are thinner that orange skin. Both of 2 fruits can make juice. Moreover, both fruits are delicious. I think this lesson is very difficult because student must know a lot of word. Additionally, this lesson is apply knowledge from latest lesson Descriptive. I have to study harder than past to pass this exam!

Chapter 6 Omelette

On Monday 23 February, first, teacher asked us who haven't done the homework yet? and responded questions form Descriptive lesson. Then, teacher opened the videos from Youtube such as that how to make omelette by Jamie Oliver, how to make banana shake. I felt so excited and hungry because that omelette looks delicious and yummy. Next, Teacher explained lesson about Procedure and how to make it. Teacher assigned us pair work to do with partner and exercise 3 in sheet. I love this lesson because I can learn a lot of new words such as holy basil, celery, utensil. and I love foods and love to eat.

Chapter 5 Describing Lizard

On Monday 9 February, teacher assigned us to do a group work of 4 people to describe animal. It is reptile and carnivorous animal. My group known it before in documentary TV program. Next, teacher assigned us to do a work that describe place "Budapest". Finally, teacher told us to present role-play of Secrets Story, I felt nervous and excited because my group is the first group to present. Teacher commended us that my group have less information about Kylie's life.

Chapter 4 Secret that isn't a secret

In the morning, teacher asked us that who didn't read part two of secret. Then, let students who didn't read before to read outside and come back when finished reading. Next, teacher assigned us to discuss  as a group about part two of secret, my group has a lot of ideas about lesson. Then, teacher told to each group to send representative from group to discuss with other groups in front of the classroom. Finally, teacher assigned us to make a group of six member and do a role play of this story. I think I didn't have enough time to do activities in today class.

[Recount 1st draft] Firstday in Philippines

         Last semester, I went to Philippines to study for 3 weeks. I got scholarships from Nakhonpathom Rajabhat University. It was my first time to go abroad with out family. I felt so nervous and excited.

         After we arrived at Philippines we took a bus to Rizal Technological University. First, we went to look around. Then I saw shabby cats I didn't know why Filipinos don't like cat. after that, I had a opening ceremony and teacher from RTU told us information about university. then I went to my dorm in university and I had to sleep because I felt so tired from travel. In the afternoon, I had first lunch in Philippines It was so interesting and delicious. After lunch, we had to relax and made a new Filipinos friends. It was so difficult and excited to talk to Filipinos friends. However, I had to make a new friend to exchange experience. Then, my friends and I had a great dinner at canteen in university. After dinner, we went out from university to convenience store to buy some dessert for midnight. Finally, I didn't have a well sleep because I always miss home and my parents.

         After first day, I felt normal because I had nice friends and great teachers. After 3 weeks, we returned to Thailand.

       

Chapter 3 Secrets!

         On 26 January, teacher asked us about vacation and assigned us to share my own vacation, it was very great vacation, I went to Cha-am beach with my friends last Saturday. after that, teacher asked to students that Have you read a sheet before study yet? no one read a sheet. Next, teacher started lesson with part one of narrative story "Secrets". After one paragraph teacher assigned us to guess the story with partner and I was chosen to tell to all of students by my friend. I felt so nervous but I can pass it. Then, teacher taught us lesson such as orientation, complication and resolution. Next, teacher explained story part one and teacher assigned  group work that summary of the first part of the story for 30 mins. I was a volunteer of my group to discuss to another group in front of the class. I think narrative is not hard to read and understand but hard to make and write it. 

        And this is my summary of the first part of the story
Kylie feels left out from her mother and Philip's activities. She becomes interested in the chickens in the yard. Somehow her secret helps her to feel less lonely. She finds a second egg and then finds out others are being laid by an unhealthy-looking hen, She always shares the secrets to hens and eggs, they make her feels better from the trouble. She feels miss her father who doesn't stand beside her now. 

Chapter 2 six hours study!

After lunch, my friends and I did the exercise before class. When the class started teacher assigned us to do exercise 4. After that, teacher assigned us to do a group work that writing a personal recount. We did it for one and a half hours because it was the first time to write recount. I found problems about writing because I  know a few words I must open dictionary to find a words. after that, we presented a group work. the last activity is secrets when I was a child. 

Chapter 1 Recount

         On January 12, today is a second day to study with Dr.Usa. First, we started with Unit 1 Recount then teacher assigned us to talk to my pair about vacation. then, teacher explained the lesson "Recount" about meaning, purpose, types, text organization, language features, specific participants, action verbs, linking items, irrelevant, orientation, events, etc. Next, teacher assigned us to make a group of 5 members and do a exercises with members of group. Finally, teacher told us to read and do the exercise 3 after lunch. Today we have 2 period to study because teacher will join the meeting next week. I felt so stress about this lesson because i think this lesson is very hard but after teacher explain and linking with systematic reading subject I understand it. 

         And the one of my study technique is always make concentration with lesson because I am lazy to do self-leaning and I often meditation before sleep. I think it make me sleep well and ready to learn a new thing for tomorrow.

First Impression

In the morning was the first period to study and first meet with Dr.Usa.  I felt so stress because I never study with Dr.Usa before. Teacher was very punctual, tidy and kind. First thing teacher told us about classroom agreement and gave us a course outline. Next, teacher explained about course descriptions, objective, contents, lesson plan, materials, assessment, grading, textbooks and requirements. After that, teacher assigned us to find the meaning of the "Discourse" and gave a worksheet about the genres of text. I think that this subject is very hard. However, I try to do my best.
